talkSPORT man reveals what top West Ham sources told him about Nuno Espirito Santo’s future

Leading talkSPORT presenter Sam Matterface has shared what he’s been told by top West Ham sources about Nuno Espirito Santo’s future.

It sums up just how bad West Ham have been in damaging defeats to Brentford and Leeds that early pressure is already mounting on Nuno Espirito Santo – one month into the job.

After an encouraging start against Everton and Arsenal, Nuno has overseen a disaster-class in the losses to the Bees and Leeds.

The Portuguese made a host of puzzling team selection decisions and changes which cost the Hammers dearly in games they could ill-afford to lose.

Speculation over Nuno’s West Ham future after just one month

Nuno was heavily criticised over the changes as the Hammers were comfortably beaten in both games, to leave them stuck in the bottom three until after the November international break at the earliest.

Nuno even sparked a big Hammers conspiracy theory with his curve ball changes – namely that he was already tanking the job to provoke the owners to sack him.

Some speculation ignited that Nuno could be the latest manager sacked as West Ham face the very real and present danger of relegation.

Hammers News moved to clarify the stance of the owners surrounding the head coach’s position.

The West Ham board issued a statement on Nuno Espirito Santo’s future after a leak about a supposed sack clause.

Somehow, the Hammers must go from winning one in nine to winning one in three for the remaining 29 games in order to realistically get enough points to stay up.

Some fans have been seriously alarmed by Nuno’s baffling decisions of late.

So much so, many believe he may be another managerial misstep from the club’s owners.

After parting company with David Moyes, the Irons have hired flops Julen Lopetegui and Graham Potter.

Fans were delighted with the way Nuno spoke about and approached the games against Everton and Arsenal at the start.

The new boss had supporters on his side form the get-go when it was revealed Nuno told David Sullivan he wanted to take over for the tough double away trip instead of waiting until the October international break.

West Ham now face Newcastle and Burnley in back-to-back home games before the November break.

Nuno will be looking to take at least four points from those fixtures to launch the bid to survive.

Opta have updated their predicted final table and Nuno could make history.

Amid the poor results, strange team selections and speculation over his future just one month in, one leading pundit has made an intriguing revelation.

Sam Matterface has revealed what top West Ham sources have told him about Nuno’s future.

And it sheds fresh light on how the club’s hierarchy are really viewing the Portuguese boss behind the scenes.

Matterface was speaking on talkSPORT’s Premier League All Access when he claimed he has been told West Ham’s board very much believe Nuno is the one for them long term.

‘West Ham see Nuno as the long-term answer’

He even states that Nuno will be given the ‘keys to the West Ham castle’.

“I’m told it’s a long-term thing with him, though,” Matterface said.

“I think, they’ve decided that he’s going to be the one that is given the keys to the castle and get on with it, you know, and build slowly.

“And I think that’s why he felt emboldened to be able to change the team he did on Monday night and then again on Friday.”

That is good to hear because West Ham badly need some stability after a turbulent couple of years.

The Hammers have won just 17 of their last 66 Premier League games since January 2024.

So the deep-rooted problems in east London started well before Nuno’s arrival.

It does at least seem the owners believe he is the man to start solving them.
