West Ham United are reportedly in the mix for a bargain January deal as Red Bull Salzburg and Mali midfielder Mamady Diambou enters the sights of the Premier League outfit.
The centre of the park has been a problem position all throughout the campaign.
While former Hammer Josh Cullen shines at Burnley, reminding his old employers what a real Premier League enforcer looks like, Nuno Espirito Santo is yet to get a tune out of the likes of Andy Irving, Tomas Soucek, Mateus Fernandes or Soungoutou Magassa.
James Ward-Prowse was dropped by Nuno almost immediately after he took charge.
So in an attempt to find solutions, West Ham United have reportedly put themselves in contention to sign Mamady Diambou from Austrian giants Red Bull Salzburg.

Red Bull Salzburg’s Mamady Diambou is reportedly a West Ham United target
In claims put forward by Africa Foot on Thursday afternoon, the 22-year-old Malian is also in the crosshairs of Lens, Royal Charleroi and Slavia Prague.
The latter, of course, being the club from whom the Hammers signed both Soucek and Vladimir Coufal. Salzburg are also reportedly willing to consider offers in the region of just £4.3 million.
Diambou describes himself as ‘an athlete’ and ‘a battler’ – two attributes that will appeal to Nuno – while the Red Bull Salzburg website called him a ‘genuine all-rounder’ capable of offering quality in possession as well as a terrific work ethic off the ball.
