‘He’s injured’: Nuno confirms West Ham have lost another player ahead of Leeds clash

Nuno Espirito Santo has confirmed that West Ham United will definitely be without Konstantinos Mavropanos during Friday’s trip to Premier League rivals Leeds at Elland Road.

The big Greek defender was forced off in the dying embers during Monday’s 2-0 home defeat by Brentford.

And though Nuno was reluctant to rule Mavropanos out straight after full-time at the London Stadium, he now confirms that West Ham United will indeed be one man down in West Yorkshire.

Nuno says West Ham United won’t have Konstantinos Mavropanos against Leeds

Niclas Fullkrug had a scan last week to determine the extent of the thigh issue he picked up on international duty. A few days later, it was Konstantinos Mavropanos’ turn to enter the treatment room.

“He’s injured,” Nuno said during his press conference on Wednesday. “Now, he’s doing a scan to see the real injury that he has. I cannot answer exactly how long he is going to be out.

“For sure, this game [against Leeds, Mavropanos] is not an option for us, unfortunately.”

Nuno will be praying that Jean-Clair Todibo and Max Kilman perform a lot better than they did against Brentford, then.

Though, having played there for Monaco with some success, Soungoutou Magassa could be an option for West Ham at centre-half, particularly if Nuno opts to start with a three-man backline on Friday night.
