David Moyes has hinted that Michail Antonio will start for West Ham vs Dinamo Zagreb on Thursday night.

The powerful 31-year-old Hammers striker stupidly got sent off yesterday against Southampton at St Mary’s.

Antonio is now suspended for our huge clash with Manchester United next weekend as a result.

Moyes failed to bring a new striker to the London Stadium during the summer transfer window.

The Scot did sign attacking midfielder Nikola Vlasic, however. And with the likes of Jarrod Bowen and Said Benrahma, he does have plenty of options who could fill in in the false nine position.

So will Moyes try a new system for our match against Zagreb considering the Manchester United clash comes just three days later?

The Hammers play their first Europa League game on Thursday night with a tough looking trip to Dinamo Zagreb.

And Moyes hinted to reporters that he might opt to start Michail Antonio against the Croatians, when asked if he plans to try a new front four, as quoted by Football.London:

“I think maybe you might think the other way because he is not available for the Man United game so I think there is a couple of ways to look at it. We don’t want Mic to go weeks and weeks without playing, he played a little bit for Jamaica but I will think about it but I have not really considered it at the moment.”

With Antonio suspended for the Man United game, he might not play again until September 22nd, our Carabao Cup clash with the Red Devils, if he doesn’t feature against Zagreb.

So perhaps starting Micky against Zagreb will be the right call.

It is vital that we don’t lose our opening Europa League group stage game.

And Moyes picking Antonio in the staring line-up will give us the best chance of taking a positive result from the match.
