6 tackles, 2 dribbles, 0 unsuccessful touches: West Ham ace’s stats v Spurs will stun Hammers fans

One West Ham United player’s stats might just surprise a few people this morning, after our 1-1 draw with Spurs last night.

West Ham were held to a draw by Spurs in the Premier League at the London Stadium yesterday, and on another day we might have won the game.

Hammers boss David Moyes failed to make any substitutions in the game that could have given the impetus to go on and win it, and he admitted after the match that he didn’t think any of his bench options were ready to come on and make an impact.

After Saturday’s disastrous defeat to Newcastle United, the point against Tottenham, and more importantly the performance from the players, was an admirable response.

It’s now looking like it will be very difficult for us to finish inside the top seven, considering some of the fixtures we’re still yet to face.

However, a win against Wolves would put us right back on track for that, and with the players Moyes has at the club, we should still have every chance of securing European football again…

The Hammers players all put in impressive performances against Tottenham, and every single one of them left everything out on the pitch.

After conceding early we were well organised defensively but posed a real threat to Spurs on the counter as well.

That said, there was one player in particular who didn’t look at his usual best. However, his stats from the game might just surprise some people…

Lucas Paqueta was nowhere near his usual levels, and he has since admitted that he was struggling with illness on the night.

In spite of that, his statistics from the Tottenham clash made for incredibly impressive reading…

Stats provided by Who Scored:

61 touches

1 successful aerial duel

6 tackles

1 interception

1 clearance

2 dribbles

0 unsuccessful touches

They are some really impressive numbers for an attacking player who is at his best when creating chances for his teammates.

The tackles, interceptions and clearances by Lucas Paqueta prove just how seriously he takes his defensive responsibilities for West Ham.

It really is very impressive or a player with as much talent as the Brazilian to track back and help out his defenders.

We really need to keep him fit between now and the end of the season because he’s just so important to us. Surprisingly though, his stats for West Ham against Spurs prove that he’s just as crucial for the Hammers defensively as he is inside the final third.
