It’s just gone from bad to worse for Kalvin Phillips after report makes new claim

West Ham United’s on-loan England international midfielder Kalvin Phillips has just been handed yet another blow it seems.

Kalvin Phillips has endured a tough start to life with West Ham, in spite of playing for Manchester City before us and being an established England international.

The 28-year-old made his debut for the Hammers against Bournemouth the start of this month but it was a forgettable one to say the least.

Since then, things have slowly got worse and worse for Phillips, culminating in his red-card against Nottingham Forest on Saturday, but he has told the West Ham fans that he’ll be ‘at it’ in the next game he plays.

Really, he should never have left Leeds for Manchester City. He should have joined a club like West Ham, in order to play regular football.

Now he clearly looks so undercooked because of nearly two years with barely any action. And Phillips could end up paying heavily for that…

According to the Daily Mail, Phillips is unlikely to be included in Gareth Southgate’s next England squad next month.

Because of the 28-year-old’s poor start to life at the London Stadium, Southgate is said to be looking elsewhere for central midfielders including the likes of Manchester United’s Kobbie Mainoo and James Garner of Everton.

Phillips must be really running low on confidence as it is after his start to life with West Ham, and now the news that he’ll most likely be left out of the England squad will cap off his experience of footballing hell right now.

The thing is, the former Leeds man is a very good player when he’s fit and in some kind of rhythm. Hopefully he uses this two week break that he has now in order to get unbelievably fit.

Let’s hope that we see the best of Kalvin Phillips between nnow and the end of the season, and if we do, he may well still have a chance of being part of Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the Euros.
