‘Absolute shambles’: West Ham legend says club will never change with current owners

Tony Cottee took to his official X account last night and let the West Ham United owners have it with both barrels.

West Ham were spanked 6-0 by Arsenal at the London Stadium yesterday, and after the match, Tony Cottee made his feelings very clear on where we stand as a club right now.

Hammers manager David Moyes finds himself under real pressure now, with his side having failed to win a game for six weeks or so.

The fact that we were beaten so convincingly by Arsenal yesterday highlighted so many big problems at the London Stadium right now.

West Ham are a team without any real identity or and kind of discernible playing style. That’s obviously on Moyes but the fact that we showed zero ambition in the January transfer window is definitely the owners’ fault.

The Hammers needed a couple of big signings to help maintain our push for the top six but alas, it didn’t happen. And now we’re suffering because of a combination of our lack of transfer activity and non-existent patterns of play on the pitch…

West Ham legend Tony Cottee slaughters shambolic Hammers owners

Tony Cottee took to his official X account after yesterday’s 6-0 defeat to Arsenal at the London Stadium.

And the Hammers legend suggested that he really doesn’t know where we go from here:

Absolute Shambles …
Club will never change with this Board. No investment in the window and a Manager with 5 months left on his contract ! Players, tactics and the result were poor today …
Where do we go from here, I don’t know ?!!

Cottee is 100% correct here. Everything is an absolute shambles from top to bottom at the London Stadium right now.

We were in such a strong position after our 2-0 win over Arsenal at the Emirates back in December. However, since then we have regressed badly.

Aside from Kalvin Phillips, Moyes failed to strengthen his squad, and allowed three first-team squad players to leave in the form of Said Benrahma, Pablo Fornals and Thilo Kehrer.

The Scot continues to downplay our hopes of a top seven finish in the media but everyone has to remember, we are not little old West Ham anymore! Moyes has spent some serious money recently, and we need to be competing with the top six.

That said, Tony Cottee is still spot on about the current West Ham situation. Whether Moyes is the man to take us forward or not is irrelevant.

Whilst the current owners are in control, we will never make any genuine progress, because every single time there’s a chance to do so, we make a backwards step. It really is so frustrating.
