West Ham now ‘confident’ of getting striker deal done as source makes big new claim

West Ham are now ‘confident’ of getting striker deal done as a source close to the owners makes a big new Divin Mubama claim.

Ask any West Ham fan what the club’s priority should be going into the January transfer window and most will give the same answer.

Although Divin Mubama is doing his best to convince them otherwise, West Ham need to sign a new striker when the winter window opens in five weeks.

The Hammers failed to replace Gianluca Scamacca when he was sold to Atalanta in the summer.

Now injuries to Jarrod Bowen and Michail Antonio have exposed West Ham’s lack of depth in what is arguably the most important area of the team.

West Ham now ‘confident’ of getting striker deal done

With Antonio and Danny Ings nearing the end of their time at the club, there will be plenty of space for Mubama even if the Hammers do bring in a new forward in the winter window.

That’s if they can convince the young striker to stay.

Reports have abound that Mubama is refusing to sign a new deal at West Ham having grown frustrated with his lack of opportunities under David Moyes.

Ings was once again preferred to Mubama in the absence of Bowen and Antonio. And West Ham fans vented their anger at Moyes for that decision.

Mubama got half an hour, though, and played a key role in helping the Hammers turn the game on its head.

The confident Academy graduate has told Moyes what he brings to the West Ham team that Antonio and Ings don’t.

We reported over the weekend that West Ham owner David Sullivan has tried to intervene in the Mubama situation by looking to hold one-to-one talks with the striker. But his agent has refused.

There is some good news from a top source insider the club, though.

‘We are confident we can get a deal done’

Claret and Hugh’s Hughie Southon says sources close to Mubama insist he wants to sign a new contract with his boyhood club West Ham.

And better still a source close to the negotiations has stated they are ‘confident’ it will get done.

“One (source) told us that this is not so much a financially driven deal as one where the boxes regarding his future are ticked,” the report states.

“Top class strikers cost an absolute fortune these days and thus it seem entirely logical the boy is now used on a regular basis starting in Serbia this week with our key insider declaring: “We need to come to an agreement and we will carry on talking.”

And one who is very close to the teenager said: “We are confident we can get a deal done.”
