‘I hope’ David Moyes issues fresh injury update on Jarrod Bowen

David Moyes has issued a fresh injury update on Jarrod Bowen after West Ham United’s comeback win over Burnley.

West Ham fans were gutted when they saw Danny Ings named in the starting line-up at Burnley in place of injured duo Jarrod Bowen and Michail Antonio.

The Hammers went into the clash at Turf Moor knowing Antonio would be out for two or three weeks according to David Moyes himself pre-game.

But West Ham fans had hoped Bowen – who injured his knee in England training – would be available after Moyes revealed he hoped he would be.

Ings disappointed yet again but Divin Mubama injected some life into the forward line for the last 30 minutes and helped West Ham come from behind to win yet again.

Bowen makes West Ham tick. And the evidence was there for all to see as he missed only his third Premier League match of the 139 the Hammers have played since he arrived in January 2020.

So fans are understandably anxious to know the situation surrounding their top scorer.

‘I hope…’

Speaking in his post-match press conference, the Scot said ‘I hope’ Bowen will be ok and revealed he just wasn’t ready to face Burnley.

“Jarrod had the injury with England,” Moyes said.

“Jarrod is, I hope, not too bad.

“But he just wasn’t ready to play and we couldn’t get him ready for the game.”

Bowen reportedly has fluid on the knee which can keep players out anywhere between a week to three weeks.

West Ham fans and Moyes will be hoping a good week or rest and rehab now will do the job.

Because he is far too important a player to take any potential risks making the condition a longer-term one.
