Cresswell out and Nigerian star in at West Ham in January claims source

Aaron Cresswell out and Nigerian star Zaidu Sanusi in at West Ham in January claims transfer source in a new report.

We are now just five weeks out from the opening of the January transfer window and the West Ham rumour mill is creaking into life.

The Hammers have clear priorities to sign a striker and left-back in the winter window.

As we reported this week, a source close to the West Ham owners has explained how the club intends to sign a new forward despite the threat of UEFA FFP sanctions.

Essentially West Ham must sell to buy – as they did during the summer window, raising £132m plus in sales to fund incomings.

One player who did look set to leave – and indeed wanted to depart – in the summer was Aaron Cresswell.

The left-back remained despite links to Wolves – a move which could be revived if reports are to be believed.

In an exclusive report this weekend, TEAMtalk claims sources have confirmed to them West Ham scouts have been watching Porto left-back Sanusi with a view to signing him and shipping Cresswell out.

David Moyes is actively pushing for an upgrade to the position in the new year,” the report states

“We’ve had it confirmed to us that Hammers scouts have been working hard on a number of potential options and one of those who has impressed is Porto’s Zaidu Sanusi.

“The Nigerian international, who has been with Porto since 2020, has been watched closely by West Ham including technical director Tim Steidten – who has appreciated the player for a long time…

“If the Hammers are successful in their chase for Zaidu, then there is every chance that Cresswell will move on in January.”
