Amadou Diallo made his senior debut for Newcastle United yesterday, after his release from West Ham United last year.
West Ham had talented left winger Amadou Diallo at the London Stadium from when he was just a young teenager, but he was released in the summer of 2022, before subsequently joining Newcastle, just three months later in October.
Hammers boss David Moyes is extremely fortunate to have an exceptionally talented group of young players amongst his ranks at the London Stadium right now, and he’s spoilt for choice when it comes to youth-team attackers really.
With that in mind, it would have been extremely hard for Diallo to break through, so it was probably the right call to let him go 16 months ago.
However, it now seems like he could be on the verge of making a name for himself at St James’ Park.
He made his senior debut for the Toon as a late substitute during their thrilling 4-1 Premier League win over Chelsea yesterday…

Amadou Diallo makes Premier League debut for Newcastle
With the Magpies 4-1 up, Eddie Howe brought the 20-year-old winger on in injury time, in place of Lewis Miley.
In fairness, Newcastle have a tremendous amount of injuries right now, so that’s obviously why he was given a chance yesterday.
However, the bottom line is that Howe would not have put him on the bench, and then brought him on if he didn’t think he was good enough.
I really hope that West Ham don’t end up regretting allowing the 20-year-old to leave for nothing last year.
As mentioned earlier, I actually think that releasing him was the correct decision – we have far better options in his position.
That’s not to say that he isn’t a very decent, promising young player though, because he almost certainly is exactly that.
And if Amadou Diallo goes on to feature regularly for Newcastle, there will undoubtedly be questioned asked of Moyes and the powers that be at the London Stadium.
